Intes-Micro Alter 7" F/15 Maksutov-Cassegrain optical system with moving primary mirror focusing. The 715's are small and portable, but at the same time, have a large enough aperture for deep-sky observing and are excellent lunar and planetary instruments. The smaller secondary obstruction ensures greater low level contrast visibility in every object of extended detail, and the longer focal length means that comfortable eyepieces can be used for higher powers. The Deluxe and particularly the Super-Planetary models offer contrast levels to the standard of a 5" APO refractor, and greater resolution, but at a fraction of the cost, and at a fraction of the bulk and weight. Can accept both Intes-Micro telecompressors and STF (Mirage) compressors of 0.8x, 0.6x and 0.45x.
These telescopes are individually and painstakingly handcrafted by highly skilled optical technicians to extremely strict optical and mechanical tolerances, and have gained an outstanding reputation amongst the specialist astronomical community for offering a range of professional quality products, providing high-performance, high-contrast, high-resolution imaging for astrophotography and visual (deep-sky and planetary) applications.
The MAKSUTOV-CASSEGRAIN models excel for high-power, high-resolution Lunar and Planetary work. Their compact tubes make them particularly convenient to transport and set up.
Focusing is achieved by moving primary mirror (with zero image shift). Standard 2" outer thread for connection of adapters and accessories from other manufacturers. Telescope OTA 100% metal construction - painted cream-white - with computer-optimised knife-edge internal baffling for maximum image contrast. Mirrors are made from Pyrex with high transmission multi-coatings on all optical surfaces.
System optical quality minimum 1/6th Wavefront error p.t.v. with High Transmission coatings on all optical surfaces, the Mirror surfaces have 95% reflectivity and the Meniscus lens is also multi-coated. Dovetail rail (Vixen/Synta type) & Mounting Plate with 3/8" threaded holes (Fits straight onto EQ5, HEQ5, EQ6). EQ5 Equatorial Mount or Higher, recommended. Supplied with Transportation Handle & Protective Carrying Case.
