The OMC200 SPD has all the high design features of the standard model on Vixen's computer controlled sphinx mount and colour display, Starbook but in addition comes with 1/6PV Optics and Hilux coatings. The quality of the OMC200 has to be seen to be believed. Images of stunning visual and photographic quality are the norm and you are guaranteed to be seeing objects as you have never seen them before. Each OMC-200 is hand finished and assembled to the highest specification possible. Optically we believe it is unbeatable. The OMC-200 was conceived as the logical extension of the fantastically popular OMC-140. The quality of the OMC-200 has to be seen to be believed. Images of stunning visual and photographic quality are the norm and you are guaranteed to be seeing objects as you have never seen them before. The secret of the telescope's exceptional performance lies in the computer optimised design - no compromises have been taken in the production of this quality product. The majority of Maksutov's made today, all have spherical surfaces. Designs utilising all spherical surfaces which use a small section of the reverse side of the corrector as the secondary mirror, cannot and will not produce images as good as an Aspheric system - as in the OMC-200. The reason they are made and left spherical is to enable them to be mass produced on relatively simple polishing machines. In the OMC-200, all surfaces are Laser Interferometer tested and hand figured to achieve excellent image quality. Particular attention is taken with the primary, which has a strong aspheric curve introduced by skilled opticians in the workshop. The manufacturers believe they have designed and built a telescope to optically out-perform absolutely anything of comparable design, anywhere in the world. The Baffle System is an extremely important factor in the telescope's design. If any stray light - reflected or refracted - is passed to the telescope's image, the contrast of the image suffers greatly. The obvious result of this is a visible white haze around objects being viewed. The optical technicians producing the corrector plates, test each surface over 10 times with a Zygo interferometer to achieve a surface accuracy of better than 1/16th wave peak to valley. Focusing is conducted by the usual method of moving the primary mirror up and down the tube, but one other feature which is included, is the use of a micrometer thimble section to carry out minute adjustments in focusing, essential for photography and high magnification levels. Focusing movement - as you would expect from such a refined, yet relatively small piece of equipment - is exceptionally smooth and precise, with virtually no visible image shift, even at magnifications as high as x1000. The innovative STAR BOOK hand controller offers astronomical navigation with a large full-colour LCD screen! The colour screen is a detailed star chart that acts as a navigational and GOTO guide for the mount. It's features include: Large colour liquid crystal display. (4.7 inch, 320x420 pixels, 4096 colours) With the STAR BOOK (Star-Chart Go-To Controller) You can simply aim a telescope, mounted on the SPHINX, at any celestial object by clicking on the LCD panel. The LCD panel offers a a comfortable 4.7-inch screen (320X240 pixels) with 4096 colours. The STAR BOOK comprises of an ultra-high-speed CPU internally which is an 32bit RISC processor, CS89712 (ARM720T Core), 75MHz clock-speed with 8MB SDRAM and 4MB Flash ROM. ((L)195mmx(W)145mmx(H)28mm.
