These telescopes are individually and painstakingly handcrafted by highly skilled optical technicians to extremely strict optical and mechanical tolerances, and have gained an outstanding reputation amongst the specialist astronomical community for offering a range of professional quality products, providing high-performance, high-contrast, high-resolution imaging for astrophotography and visual (deep-sky and planetary) applications.
The MAKSUTOV-NEWTONIAN design combines the best features from a Newtonian Reflector and a Maksutov-Cassegrain to create a telescope design that provides truly stunning image quality, similar to that achieved with Apochromatic Refractors, but at a fraction of the cost.
Focusing is achieved by 2" Crayford focuser with 1.25" adaptor. Telescope OTA 100% metal construction with computer-optimised knife-edge internal baffling for maximum image contrast. Secondary mirror central obstruction is 15% of diameter. Pyrex mirrors with 96% reflectivity. Supplied with Cooling Fan.
System optical quality typically between 1/5th and 1/6th Wavefront p.t.v. with High Transmission coatings on all optical surfaces.
Tube Rings & Mounting Plate plus Guidescope plate included. EQ5 Equatorial Mount or Higher, recommended. Supplied with wooden Transportation Case.
